Very sad. Splitt was one of the most underrated pitchers of his day. How tough was he? In the deciding game of the 1977 ALCS, Billy Martin didn’t start Mr. October because he knew Reggie had no chance against him. Splitt pitched more than well enough to win that night and I am glad he was the starter the night KC won it’s first pennant. As important a person to the Royals organization and anyone not wearing #5, IMO. RIP, Splitt.
